Welcome from KSE Director, Dr. Tom Coupe

Ukraine has a large number of universities. Too many, according to some observers. The Kyiv School of Economics, however, is not just one more new university. It is different.

It is different because at KSE we see our students as investors in skills. Investing in education means hard work, it means a continuous effort to improve one’s knowledge, it means dedication and focus on studies, and it means long hours of study and sleepless nights. But it also means rewards: huge career opportunities, personal development and a better understanding of the world around.

KSE is different because we measure ourselves against international standards. KSE does not measure itself against other Ukrainian universities; we compete in the global marketplace of educational institutions. KSE does not just prepare its graduates for the Ukrainian labor market; we produce graduates who can succeed in the global economy. To this end, KSE recruits graduates of doctoral programs at top institutions in North America and Europe. In addition to teaching advanced courses similar to those at these top institutions, our faculty engages in cutting-edge research that is regularly published in international journals.

KSE is different because it is more than just an educational institution. KSE strives to stimulate debate on economic issues in Ukraine; it strives to inform decision makers in both the public and private sectors, and to push for the modernization of higher education throughout Ukraine. We do this by organizing public lectures given by international experts, by writing articles in the Ukrainian press and by organizing conferences for Ukrainian academics.

If you want to become different, welcome!
