KSE Olympiad in Applied Economics

The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) with CFA Ukraine, GMC and Case Champ invites interested students to participate in the International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics.

What is the KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics?

The goal of the KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics is to create the platform for seeking talented students and give them an opportunity to show themselves in academic competitions.

The KSE Olympiad is a two round competition. At the first stage (October-November 2011), students will compete locally for three places (per city) in the finals, which will be organized in Kyiv (in January-February 2012).

The KSE Olympiad test will consist of challenging multiple choice questions which require using economic knowledge to analyze the various economic aspects of  consumers', producers' and government's activities.

Where and when will the KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics?

The first stage of the Olympiad will take place in October-November 2011 in the following cities:

• Donetsk - October, 20, 16.00-18.00
• Lviv - October, 28, 16.00-18.00
• Dnipropetrovsk – November, 3 16.00-18.00
• Odesa - November, 4, 16.00-18.00
• Minsk - November, 11, 16.00-18.00
• Kharkiv - November, 11, 16.00-18.00
• Kyiv - November, 25, 16.00-18.00

Who is eligible to participate in the KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics?

Students in any field interested in modern economic theory and its use for the analysis of real economic situations.

What is the working language of the KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics?

The working language of the Olympiad is Ukrainian (for participants from Ukraine) and Russian (for participants from Belarus and Moldova).

Who will be selecting the winners of the KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics?

The selection of winners of the Olympiad will be based on the score obtained on the Olympiad tests. If necessary, a jury of the KSE professors will make a final decision (please see the list of KSE professors at www.kse.org.ua/people.htm).

Will the winners be awarded with the prizes?

The winners of the first stage of the KSE Olympiad in each city will be invited to Kyiv in January-February 2012 to participate in the final tour of the KSE Olympiad. KSE will provide winners of the first regional round with the limited number of grants to cover expenses for travel to Kyiv. Grants will be allocated on competitive terms among the senior students (4-5 courses). The exact date of the second round of the Olympiad will be announced later.

The winners of the final round will receive the following monetary awards:

1st place - $300
2nd place - $200
3rd place - $100

How to participate in KSE International Student Olympiad in Applied Economics?

To participate in the Olympiad, please, REGISTER ONLINE a couple of days before the Olympiad. Before the Olympiad all registered students will receive an invitation via e-mail with the full information about the place of the Olympiad.
